my favourite bands are the killers, switchfoot, greenday, blink 182, jimmy eat world, the all american rejects, boys like girls, empire of the sun and kings of leon. Does anyone know any other good bands which are similar to these bands that they highly recommend i listen to?

Ween! Sounds like you would like them (they are my favorite band). They have a good sense of humor in their songs.

I only listen to one punk band: Bad Religion

They taught me that music can address social causes and that punk is a philosophy, not just a music style or a way to dress. Check out the following songs to learn of their awesomeness:

Punk Rock Song
You
Generator
I Want To Conquer The World
21st Century Digital Boy
Infected
I Love My Computer
New America (predates Obama by many years but almost sounds like it’s about his politics)
