How do I hook up a cellphone on a 2000 BMW 328i?

Asked by Yanivi (42points) November 16th, 2009

I just bought this car, and it has the cellphone option, but there is nothing in the used manual about connecting the cellphone… is it bluetooth? Any info would be most appreciated…

I believe it’s bluetooth just like my Prius is. Here is a bimmer specific Q/A site that may help you resolve your issue faster.

Definitely not bluetooth . Lexus and Chrysler’s PT Cruiser were the to install/use bluetooth, in 2004–2005.

@virtualist There are many bluetooth after market kits for BMW’s.

Thanks all, but there is already a system installed. There is a button on the steering wheel for phones, and a little speaker built in next to the rear view mirror… I just need to figure out how to connect to it…

@Yanivi Here’s another answer site answer to this question

You may have it the buttons, but not have the system.

Ah, interesting…. I wonder how I figure out which it is… I was told it was there when I bought it…

@Yanivi Can you ask the person you bought it from if they have info on it?

Yanivi's avatar

They don’t, they just know they paid extra for it :(

SpatzieLover's avatar

@Yanivi But did they use the option when they had the car? If not, I’d bet it was just pre-wired and you need to buy the actual system….Either way, I’d bet an honest (if you know of one) BMW dealer or salesperson in your area would help you…or whatever repair shop you use would assist.

Right, I’ll make the call. Thanks much for your help!

@Yanivi Good luck with the new car! :)
