When is the best time during the day to spray tan your skin?

Asked by CaseyWVU10 (550points) November 16th, 2009

I was just wondering if there is a time when self tanner (spray) would apply better to skin and if the effectiveness of the results depend on when you spray tan. Should the skin have time to firm up after a shower, or should the tanner be applied to just showered skin?

Another quick question, is it advisable to spray tan legs when they have just been shaved or should the pores have time to close?

I don’t intend to be mean, but I would say no time is a good time. It’s really not a very good look, imho.

Well that depends….. do you want to be orange now? Or orange later?

I used to apply spray tans to customers

Do not come freshly showered, but showering and shaving that day is just fine. It’s for the best since you need time for it to soak in and showering can make it fade.
There really is no best time, but for I’d think around dinner time would be good. Gives it time to settle before laying in bed.

My suggestion is go to a salon and get it professionally done. Their formula tends to be a nice golden brown, not orange, and some will correct the color if it’s too orange. they will also spray it nice and evenly too.
