If you move you mouse down to the bottom of your computer screen, does it pop up?

Also, try pressing the Windows key, it should pop up, then right-click somewhere on an empty space in the taskbar, press Properties and in the resulting window there should be some option for keeping the taskbar on top of other windows.

No the the only way I can get it to pop up is to press the windows key and then the bar will stay up there until I click on anything on the screen then it disappears again

When you bring your mouse to the bottom of the screen, it should change into an up and down arrow. Just click and hold while you drag back upwards.

@fireside it doesn’t change it just stays as the mouse pointer thing I apologize for my use of the most untechnical terms possible

@sjmc1989 Did you try what I said?

sjmc1989's avatar

@erichw1504 I did the properties thing just now and everything that should have been checked was but I pressed apply anyway and it did stay up but as soon as I closed out the internet and brought it back up again it was gone :(

I’ve been having an issue with Google Chrome where it hides the taskbar. Only Chrome is doing it, so I think it’s a Chrome thing. It doesn’t happen all the time either. I don’t have a solution for you, but if it is only when your browser window is maximized, it could be something to do with your browser (since you say you don’t know anything about computers, your browser is Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, or Safari. Probably Internet Explorer).

@Snarp I do have Internet Explorer. So if its a problem with my browser is there anything I can do about it or do I just have to live with it?

@sjmc1989 Press the F11 key. Your browser may be in full-screen mode, F11 turns that on and off.

Snarp, that may be your answer for Chrome, too.

@jaytkay I Love YOU! That was it. Thank you so much. LURVE FOR YOU! and everyone else who took the time to respond thank you and lurve for you too

@jaytkay Full-screen mode! Should have thought of that. I don’t think that’s my Chrome issue, but I’ll check.

Snarp's avatar

OK, just tried full screen mode in Chrome for the first time. Definitely not what’s going on with mine. But it’s not really doing it anymore anyway.

Glad it worked! I was stumped, too, until Snap’s mention of browsers made it, ummm, snap into my head.

erichw1504's avatar

Hmm, that’s interesting because I thought about that, but when I do full screen mode with IE it doesn’t cover the taskbar. What version of IE do you have?

sjmc1989's avatar

If you are asking me Umm…I don’t really know how to tell what version I have.

erichw1504's avatar

Click Help on the toolbar, then About Internet Explorer.

^This^ is why I try to avoid asking computer questions it just show my stupidity on the subject :) Oh it is version 8.0.6001. and so on.

erichw1504's avatar

Ok, I have 7.0 at work, so maybe it does full-screen differently. Thanks.
