Does Asia have any kind of transnational union, such as the EU?

Asked by DrasticDreamer (23996points) November 20th, 2009

I was looking around online, trying to figure out of if they have some kind of transnational union, but the closest thing I could find that resembled one is called the Asia Monitor Resource Centre: http://www.amrc.org.hk/ It definitely fits some criteria similar to the EU, but definitely not all. It’s non-governmental, for one.

Does anyone know if they have a similar kind of union? If so, can you please provide a link? I’m unsure as to how to go about searching on Google.

I just typed in “Asian Union” on Wikipedia and it redirected me to this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asia_Cooperation_Dialogue

According to the article, some see this as a precursor to an “Asian Union”.

Wikipedia has yet to let me down. I think a lot of people have misconceptions about it.

Of course, there was that one time on the historian’s presidential rankings article when instead of “George W. Bush” it said “Fag”. Who let a 10-year-old mod Wikipedia? lol

Generally Wikipedia is great, I just wouldn’t use it for any factual research (or at least I’d check citations and omit facts without any) because of obvious reasons.

:) This wasn’t really the place to discuss it anyway, I was just just being an ass xD…

Yes, but they are not as far as the European Union.
