Another Saturday night and I aint got nobody... wasn't that a spot-on song?

Asked by Zen_Again (9931points) November 27th, 2009

When you have a situation, problem or other occasion – good or bad – do you think of a song’s verse, lyric or rhyme?

I do.

Examples: Lately, I’ve been staring in the mirror… or… We’ve only just begun…

Your turn.

I got me some horses to ride on to ride on
They say that your demons cant go there
So I got me some horses to ride on to ride on
As long as your army keeps perfectly still

This one has always been the story of my life!

Well it’s a strange old game you learn it slow
One step forward and it’s back you go
You’re standing on the throttle
You’re standing on the brake
In the groove ‘til you make a mistake

Sometimes you’re the windshield
Sometimes you’re the bug
Sometimes it all comes together baby
Sometimes you’re just a fool in love
Sometimes you’re the Louisville Slugger
Sometimes you’re the ball
Sometimes it all comes together
Sometimes you’re gonna lose it all

You gotta know happy – you gotta know glad
Because you’re gonna know lonely
And you’re gonna know sad
When you’re rippin’ and you’re ridin’
And you’re coming on strong
You start slippin’ and slidin’
And it all goes wrong because

Sometimes you’re the windshield
Sometimes you’re the bug
Sometimes it all comes together baby
Sometimes you’re just a fool in love
Sometimes you’re the Louisville Slugger
Sometimes you’re the ball
Sometimes it all comes together
Sometimes you’re gonna lose it all

One day you got the glory and then you got none
One day you’re a diamond and then you’re a stone
Everything can change in the blink of an eye
So let the good times roll before we say goodbye because

Sometimes you’re the windshield
Sometimes you’re the bug
Sometimes it all comes together baby
Sometimes you’re just a fool in love
Sometimes you’re the Louisville Slugger
Sometimes you’re the ball
Sometimes it all comes together
Sometimes you’re gonna lose it all

Sometimes you’re the windshield
Sometimes you’re the bug
Sometimes it all comes together baby
Sometimes you’re just a fool in love

Sometimes you’re the windshield
Sometimes you’re the bug
Sometimes it all comes together baby
Sometimes you’re just a fool in love

This always seems to be really fitting for me.

Where Does the Good Go?

Where do you go with your broken heart in tow
What do you do with the left over you
And how do you know, when to let go
Where does the good go, where does the good go
Look me in the eye and tell me you don’t find me attractive
Look me in the heart and tell me you won’t go
Look me in the eye and promise no love’s like our love
Look me in the heart and unbreak broken,
it won’t happen
It’s love that leaves and breaks the seal of always thinking you would be
Real, happy and healthy, strong and calm,
where does the good go
Where does the good go
Where do you go when you’re in love
and the world knows
How do you live so happily
while I am sad and broken down
What do you say it’s up for grabs
now that you’re on your way down
Where does the good go,
where does the good go

Another one that describes how I’m feeling at this point and time in my life is

Amen Omen

What started as a whisper,
Slowly turned in to a scream.
Searching for an answer
Where the question is unseen.
I don’t know where you came from
And I dont know where you’ve gone.
Old friends become old strangers
Between the darkness and the dawn

Amen omen, will I see your face again?
Amen omen, can I find the place within
To live my life without you?

I still hear you saying
“All of life is chance,
And is sweetest,is sweetest when at a glance”
But I live,
I live a hundred lifetimes in a day.
But I die a little
In every breath that I take.

Amen omen, will I see your face again?
Amen omen, can I find the place within
To live my life without you?

I listen to a whisper,
Slowly drift away.
Silence is a loudest,
Parting word you never say.
I put I put your world
Into my veins
Now a voiceless sympathy
Is all that remains.

Amen omen, will I see your face again?
Amen omen, can I find the place within
To live my life without you?

Amen omen, can i find the strength within

this is me right now

Lyrics:

“This country is my canvas –
I leave paint trails as I go.
I’m painting a picture
That you can only see from outer space.
My bedroom is your sofa,
I take my breakfast on the train.
I’m tired and I’m dirty, and not a second goes to waste.

I’ll be dead but never dying, and I say that with a smile
It’s just my way of trying to be alive.

Well I’ll never get to grey hair
And I’ll never be in the black,
But I can tell stories that most can hardly dream.
Dreaming is a luxury,
Like stopping-staring and beauty sleep.
I’ll stop when I’m finished,
And sleep is for the weak.

Heaven’s in the half-light, and that’s where I reside,
A whiskey and a wry smile –
I check my vital signs.

And when I’m gone,
The worlds revolve, and life goes on,
So mark no grave,
Forget my name.
If the song remains
And everybody’s got a drink and a smile,
Well, that’s just fine by me.”

I would say this one by Lars Winnerbäck:Jag får liksom ingen ordning, but it wouldn’t tell you much. It’s all Swedish.

A runner up would be Ambitions.

rangerr's avatar

@oratio I cheated and used a translator. Usually Norwegian is close enough to Swedish to understand the point, but not with that. I like the beat of the first song. Lurve.

I always have a soundtrack running in my background mind. Lately, it’s been a lot of old Joni Mitchell love songs for some strange reason.

The line that almost always consistently captures my mood is from the Grateful Dead’s Trucking:

Lately it occurs to me, what a long strange trip it’s been.
