What is the best restaurant youve been to?

give the name of the restaurant and the location. Im all about good food! I want to make a list of places I have to eat before I die. could be anywhere in the world.

The Signature Room in Chicago. Very Fancy, but the food is so good. And its atop the Hancock tower so the view is amazing. ask for a window seat. If fine dining isn’t quite your style, Gino’s East Pizza is the best i’ve ever had, also in Chi-town.

Jonah’s Seafood House
in East Peoria, Il. Great food and excellent view of the Illinois River and Peoria, especially during sunset. Expect to spend $100 for two. it is worth it

Two stand out for me, both of them in hotels: the restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton, Central Park (since closed) and the Sea Grill Restaurant at the Radisson SAS in Brussels, Belgium. The Blue Fox in San Francisco was a great place, back in the day. But it has unfortunately gone dark as well.

On my list of “dining experiences before I die” is Alice Waters’ Chez Panisse near Berkeley, California. I’ve almost been twice, but the waiting list for reservations is something like 6 months.

Only been here once but it’s called The Winchester Room…It’s in Irwin, PA (or close) which is a little east of Pittsburgh and I had the biggest, best, most orgasmic lobster tail ever there once. It had to have been a couple pounds and super expensive but I don’t pay so I didn’t know. Anyhow, heaven in the form of an edible crustacean. YESSSSSS. IT WAS SO GOOD! IM DROOLING!

Oh yeah, how could I forget: add to my list Ferran Adria’s El Bulli near Barcelona. You have to be buddies with the Pope to get in (reservations by written letter only), but who knows? Maybe I’ll get lucky.

Well, it’s more of a bed and breakfast, but i’d have to say the “Mt. Holly Steamboat Inn” in Montross, Virginia. I love it there.

@cprevite is it puerto la boca in little italy san diego? it’s the best and my fav argentine restaurant in San Diego.
Hash House a gogo – in san diego (but there are other locations)
La hacienda de vega, escondido
La Lorena – Mexico City
Maoz ( it’s all over europe) It’s kind of like a fast food falafel place but they have a vegetable topping bar. I would try to have one for lunch everyday, when i was in Paris, madrid, barcelona, amsterdam.
Harney sushi in old town (san diego) they have the Best sushi i have ever had

Zlaty Rosen in Prague 6. The food is fantastic and the vodka is so cheap, it might as well be free!!!

Taillevent in Paris. It was recently demoted to 2 stars by Michelin, but I knew it back in its glory days at the top of the French gastronomic heap. I even went on to work there for free on my days off.

Restaurants tend to be theater. They create a bubble of illusion for the diner. That illusion would be shattered were the diner to actually see the workings of the kitchen or know the people who are preparing the food. That wasn’t the case at Taillevent. The kitchen was every bit as magical as the dining room, and the artisans who worked there really lived up to the image.

Should have probably mentioned ‘el molino blanco’ in Adeje, Tenerife. It’s a converted windmill with beautiful gardens and surroundings. The food and wine selection are out of this world!

Union Square Cafe in NYC is consistently at the top of my list because of the good food and atmosphere, but also because of the casually warm service. Danny Meyers has a wonderful philosophy of service and the employees buy in to it.

Chez Panisse is quite high up on the list too.

The French Laundry is a world-class, renouned restaurant in Yountville, California.
Fentons , which you will see refered to in the movie Up, is a wonderful Ice Creamery in Oakland, with the best Crab Sandwiches in the Bay Area.
And, of course, I love Taco Bell.

Or any of Jeff Ruby’s places. All food is ala caret, and have a wad of cash or empty credit card, but by all means, it is a place of tender well cured meat.
Carlo & Johnny’s is a restaurant for the 40–60 crowd, and offers dinner and dancing on the weekends with some great live music. Blue Stone Ivory plays there every month or so they’re like Chicago/Blood Sweat and tears….OH to go – Heaven on earth.

@Harp I saw that!!! I guess when you have a flagship restaurant that’s consistently labelled “best in the world” it’s hard to maintain that kind of quality. Better to quit while you’re at the top of your game.
