What are some alternatives or different takes on classic idioms?

Asked by erichw1504 (26448points) December 4th, 2009

For example:

“The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.”

or

“The grass is greener where you water it.” (a different take, meaning, you can make the most out of something yourself)

Other classic idioms are “A Chip On Your Shoulder” and “Like a chicken with its head cut off”.

What are some that you have heard? Better yet, make one up yourself right now!

**Please include the original idiom with your post.

Original- The early bird gets the worm
New and improved- the early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese.
