How to start a town newsletter?

Asked by talljasperman (21916points) December 18th, 2009

I want to create a one or two page newsletter for my small town. I have a printer, computer and I am on my own. I would like to know how to start one from scratch and without a journalism degree.

You don’t need a journalism degree. You can do this. First you have to answer some questions.

1. What is the purpose of your newsletter?
2. What is your organizing concept?
3. What is your policy on reader contributions?
4. What is your means of delivery?

There’s more, but that’s a start.

If what you’re interested in is “hyperlocal news”, and the newsletter would work online, maybe you’d like the looks of olyblog.com.
Take a peek.
