What's that one christmas song that you can't stand to hear over and over again?

Asked by charliecompany34 (7810points) December 23rd, 2009

you love the holiday season no matter what. but “that song” just makes you say, “no, i cannot listen to this one all the way through—it does nothing for me. i cringe every time i hear it.”

Last Christmas – Wham

Not all of them.

To be honest, I haven’t heard too many of them too much this year. I’ve never been a fan of “Jingle Bell Rock”, though.

What I don’t hear enough of are “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “Once in Royal David’s City”.

I don’t want a hippopotamus carol for Christmas. DO NOT WANT.

The guy that sits on the other side of my cube has been singing “in the winter we can build a snowman”.. and hummed the rest of it because he didn’t know the rest of the words to that crappy song for the last 3 weeks. If he is stilll singing it after I get back from the holidays I’m going to dick punch him.

Aside from this, this, and this i loathe pretty much all christmas music.

Here is my huge problem with it. ITS HORRIBLE FUCKING MUSIC. No one would listen to this shit if it wasnt about christmas.

In short, Christmas Sucks

@uberbatman I like your links, but I really do love the music, and I know people who listen to it all year.

The Little Drummer Boy – it doesn’t matter who is singing it.

Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time by Paul McCartney…that techno keyboard beat is extremely annoying- the beats don’t even match! I hate it so much…

I get really tired of all of them after hearing them over and over. But I will listen to the Twisted Tunes versions because they are funnier than hell.

“this christmas” i think its by the late donnie hathaway. nice song actually. but like all the TV stations played “it’s a wonderful lfe” on all TV stations back in the 90s to the point it is now a secure video, same goes with really good recordings that get played to much ad nauseum.

Omg I hate all Christmas songs but the worst is Mariah Carey- all I want for Christmas is you. This song plays on the radio in Boston 24/7. The worst part is that they play Mariah on every station because she could be in the hiphop station, r&b station, pop station, and the freaking station that plays all Christmas music!! I hate it!!! Urrr

@Justnice too much adlib runs and finesse. just sing a simple song. i feel you on that one.

I was in a restaurant one day, it was just before Thanksgiving. This grandma, with the usual loud gravelly kind of sounding voice came in with her grandson and was singing, “All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth, my two front teeth, my two front teeth” over and over and over again! the kid had two front teeth, and little grammy here didn’t know the rest of the words, so she continuously sang that line over and over again loudly. It was even near Christmas! I have never liked that song…to this day…**shivers**

Every last one of them. I’m not a fan of christmas songs. Especially when they start playing them in October!

Well, it appears everyone has a favorite “hate song” for Christmas, so i am going to do the opposite. here is one song i actually look forward to hearing each year. its by a woman that has the most beautiful voice and perfect pitch, on earth. its by Karen Carpenter and its “Merry Christmas, Darling”. love that song. john

@SuperMouse

Who are you, my mom? She hates that song…lol

Carol of the Bells. If I hear one more person sing ‘ding, fries are done’ while this song is playing, they will die. I’ve played that song for months in band; please put me out of my misery.

Here comes Peter Cottontail…oh wait, sorry.

Blue Christmas. It such a sad song for a Joyous holiday .Why would you do that to yourself?

arnbev959's avatar

I’ve been a real scrooge about Christmas music this year. I’ve made people turn their radios off if I’ve been in the same room. As a result, I hadn’t heard any Christmas music until yesterday, when I decided to turn on the radio.

There are few Christmas songs that I like on their own, but I do enjoy listening to Christmas music for a few days out of the year. I hate that people start playing it so early; it’s annoying and it kills my “Christmas Spirit” long before Christmas arrives.

Now that I have had the Christmas music playing for two days, I can’t understand why radio stations play the same 14 songs repeatedly. There must be 10000000s of Christmas songs they could choose from, but I keep hearing the same few.

El_Cadejo's avatar

@petethepothead I KNOW RIGHT!! The radio station we listen to at work has been playing christmas music since before thanksgiviing. And they play the same friggin songs over and over and over. Drives you nuts. Itd be one thing if it was like ok play let it snow by joe schmo then play it later by jane doe, but no they play the same fucking version all day long. EGHHH I once heard frosty the snow man back to back. BACK TO BACK SERIOUSLY!?!
