Best way to lose weight in stomach and butt?

Asked by jigglyjelly (7points) December 25th, 2009

I’m not way overweight, but I carry more than I’d like to in my stomach and rear… I’m trying to lose it, eating a lot less, exercising. From the chest up, I’m getting bonier, but my tummy and butt still jiggle, and are the same measurements they were to begin with. I want to lose the weight in those two places, not my shoulder-collarbone region. Is there any way to get my body to respond the way I want it to? (Like, I do crunches, but should I be doing more? Are there foods that will tend to leave their excess in those places that I should avoid? Or do I just have to deal with how my body is behaving?)

It don’t believe that it is possible to lose fat from spectfic areas. Fat loss is a generalized thing, some people just accumulate it in different places. You can build muscle mass in the areas where you are “bony”. This increased muscle mas can increase your meatbolism and help you lose fat. Exercise and proper diet, also to some extent being satisfied with the shape nature gave you. Healthy is more important than a specific “look”.

I saw a commercial about shoes by Nike that are supposed to make your bum look great, no personal experience, just a thought.

@stranger_in_a_strange_land is right. You can’t target a certain area to lose fat. Fat gets deposited in several areas and for the most part, it tends to stay more around the stomach and thighs. The best thing for burning fat is cardio. The more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism will be but cardio (physical activity that causes an increase in heart rate) over an extended period of time is what burns fat.

Walk two miles a day. Cease eating sugar; NO cake, NO ice cream, NOcookies etc… NO potato chips, NO milk, NO butter.

Stick to it for 3 month and see what happens. I started in August and have lost 30 pounds.

Yeah just keep loosing weight and your body will have no choice but to burn that fat sooner or later. From what I understand most people loose it in the hands and face first usually stomach and butt last

I second what Kelly Obrien says. Those stuff causes me to bloat and get a little (okay, not little) tummy.

For the butt, I can’t do too much heavy exercises but I did 20 squats with a 3.5kg weight daily and walked a bit more. It showed good results (for me) after a couple of months.

Good luck.

Quit feeding the one and get up off the other and get some exercise!

You can’t localize weight loss. It’s distributed evenly everywhere around your body.

Proper diet + cardio = all you need to know.
