Is there any chance of penis retraction?

Asked by LeopardGecko (1237points) December 28th, 2009

I’m a “grower” and sometimes when I am playing ice hockey and skating (which requires me to be bent over, moving my legs back and forth, which basically forces it towards my body) it feels as if things are getting “small” down there. Does this happen to anybody else? Is there any chance of a penis retraction? I’m not sure how much smaller it is as I do not look at myself on the bench.

Possibly, but I do not know the answer for sure. I think a greater concern might be more along the lines of a penis “extraction” if you play rough sports. Call me nuts…get it? NUTS?

Nope. But you can always get some tweezers and pull it out if it does.

“retraction of the penis is a common and normal phenomenon. It has more to do with body build than any disorder of the penis. It usually occurs in males who are overweight and have a large abdomen and thickened area of fat in the prepuberal area (lower abdomen). It is most obvious in the sitting position. It has nothing to do with the size or function of the penis. Getting in shape and proper dieting usually results in lessening of the abdominal fat and the situation corrects itself. In the meantime, it is very important when showering to expose the entire penis and wash it well before allowing it to retract again.” http://en.allexperts.com/q/Urology-Male-issues-989/Retracting-penis.htm

Apparently, this is not uncommon if the posts on this site are any indication. I know that as he has aged this has happened to my husband. However, his testosterone levels are very low even for his age and may affect it. Apparently there is also a psychological disorder called “Penis Panic” in which a man fears that his penis will retract completely and permanently, or that retraction can cause illness or death.

Most guys note that it seems to happen due to adrenalin or due to sports, and also most simply pull it back out when it retracts.

I read the site @Darwin posted while doing some quick research for this question. I had no idea penis retraction even existed! And I thought I knew everything about penises! (jk)

Perhaps you should tie a string to it while it is still visible to the naked eye.

It’s completely normal during periods of high adrenaline (in the past, an adrenaline rush most likely meant you were about to get in a fight, so better to retract and give your opponent less to grab on to and/or lessen the likelihood of injury to your method of passing on your genes) and, of course, colder temperatures—“like a frightened turtle.”—-@Grisaille Seinfeld, indeed.

I WAS IN THE POOL!!!

Yeah… now in the pool – especially if cold, it can tend to ‘retract’LOL!!!
But just keep looking at all those Luscious chicks in their bikinis, or out of them[LOL] and you are sure to make up for ‘retraction’!!LOL ;)

Unfortunately it’s a real thing. I’m not that big to begin with (about 5” hard) and soft it rather unimpressive. I find that when I work out or it’s really cold it can almost retract completely. It makes me look uncut even though I’m circumcised. Weight also plays a factor. If I put on some weight it’s more a problem than when I’m trimmed down and exercising a lot.
I think when God was handing out penises I got stuck with a compact model. Oh well, at least it works I guess.
