Two years ago today. Link. Looks like I wasn’t the only one watching the Bruins and Flyers today.

It just seemed like the winter classic has been around longer than just two years ago seeing as how most hockey fans live for this day just as bad as they do for the playoffs.

Nobody say the score! We have it on DVR to watch tomorrow.

The Americans would have you believe it as such(since it’s only been branded the winter classic the past three seasons) But the first regular season outdoor hockey game in the NHL occured in 2003 at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton between the Oilers and Habs(coldest day of my life but soooo worth it)

I’ve been a rabid Buffalo Sabre fan for many years.(Also another AB refugee. Thanks for taking us in and making us feel welcomed) The first Classic was held in Ralph Wilson Stadium. The game ended with the Penguins winning in a shootout. Over 76000 in attendance, snow and cold, just an amazing spectacle except for the outcome.
