Any suggestions for a book or software for retirement planning?

Asked by cam6662 (37points) January 9th, 2010

Been working with an investment counselor who did a monetary projection for me that was useful, but want to do some independent research before committing real money. Have heard people often don’t expect to live as long as they eventually do and I don’t want to outlive my ability to support myself. In this case, planning early to make sure I don’t end up looking for work when I’m 75 sounds like a really wise thing – doesn’t it?

Our planning is done by consulting about a dozen different online sources, including the Motley Fool, Met Life Retirement Planner, AARP Kiplinger Retirement and All State.

This is an ongoing process and the results are checked at least monthly. We also subscribe to Fortune, and Money magazines. All of these sources have financial planning workheets, tips and ideas.

Motley Fool is a good website to check out. They have a lot of very good introductory stuff, and often a lot of references, too.

Retirement planning isn’t only about money.
Plan what you want to accomplish as well.
( and there costs to factor into too)
