What is a good way to just feel good?

Asked by babygirlbubbles (110points) January 15th, 2010

I don’t really know why, but lately i’ve been thinking a lot about bad shit, like losing people, break-ups, being used, and i just want to feel good for a night. But I’m not into one night stands, so please don’t mention that lol. And this is just a general question, if you have a great story, tell me, it would be nice to hear about other people’s experiences. Maybe it can help me with my own problems :)

Help someone else out, no matter how small the gesture.

Whenever I get in one of those sorts of moods, I grab my dog and jump in the car for a mini road trip. They can be just a few hours, a day or two, or even several weeks. I find it really helps me clear my head, and focus on what’s important to me.

Exercise. Releases endorphins, gets rid of tension, helps you feel good about doing something healthy. Then eat a whole box of cookies! :)

+1 for exercise.

Call a friend you haven’t seen in a while. Whenever I’m feeling down it always makes me feel good to know that someone is so excited that I called them and that I want to hang out.

If you don’t want to do that, make yourself your favorite meal, watch your favorite movie and spend an evening doing what you want to do.

I hope you feel better. :)

Hanging out and talking with my friends really helps me when I get down.

I saw a program with a doctor on who said 75% of all mild depression can be curred by getting out for a nice walk and fresh air, I thought that sounded very plausible in these days where work commitments take quite a chunk out of your pressure buffer.

i agree with gailcalled 25005 – doing nice things or paying someone a compliment to some always makes me fell better about myself – despite what harsh realities i wake up to everyday – anytime i get a smile from someone i held the door open for at the grocery store or when i tell my mean old boss lady that her hair cut makes her look younger – anything that makes people feel better about them selves and makes thier life a easier to deal with ( weither its for the moment or forever ) makes me feel like a superstar – when i get that feeling i produce more , work harder, and get positive results, which naturally makes me happy – i hope that i was of some assitance – sorry to ramble on – take care

Fake it til you make it! I did that today! I was in a bad mood but just didn’t feel like having another bad day. I put on upbeat music and I’m dancing around pretending to be happy and it’s working!

Every morning I get up and read the obituaries. Any day that I am not listed, I know it is going to be a good day.

Watch failblog, or listen to the radioshow loveline. There is ALWAYS someone with a worse life then you. I choose to laugh at them because I am a prick.

Do something that takes all your mind. I’m like you, too. I’ve got something that I obsess about in every second that my mind is not otherwise occupied. It totally sucks, too, because my stomach tightens up into a horrible knot the instant I think about it. When I’m with other people or really engaged in something else, my mind is fine and I lose that constricted tightness in my belly.

For me, engagement with people I find very interesting is the best. Working on some intellectually absorbing task really helps. At night, it is so difficult. I barely sleep. I get up at all hours to see if there is any new news on the computer.

I wish I could control my mind better, but I am, it seems, utterly captivated by that which is controlling my mind.
