William Fitzsimmons. Grizzly Bear. Phoenix. Rilo Kiley. The Weepies. Aqualung. Beirut. Andrew Bird. Great Lake Swimmers.

Upon review, these are mostly mellow/folky indie. Which makes sense cause that’s what I like. :)

Both Vampire Weekend albums are good, but I like the self titled one better than Contra personally.

Modest Mouse is one of the ye olde indie bands.
For indie Modest Mouse check out: The Fruit That Ate Itself, Building Something Out of Nothing, The Lonesome Crowded West, This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About. (These are all Modest Mouse albums btw.)

For more mainstream Modest Mouse (but still strange, in Isaac Brock’s signature way) check out The Moon and Antarctica, Good News For People Who Love Bad News, We Were Dead before the Ship Even Sank.

Don’t get me wrong here, all Modest Mouse is pure gold to me. I would kiss Isaac Brock on his mouth parts if I ever saw him, and I am a straight male ;).

Message me if you have any more questions. Or anyone, for that matter. It makes me feel special.

@ShiningToast
I hope I don’t crush your bubble but Issac Brock is a junkie, egotistic, asshole. He used to be my neighbor.

ShiningToast's avatar

@judochop I agree completely. He is a prick. But he sure can write music. He was really your neighbor though? Trippy.

@Samantha_Rae portishead, the pixies, grizzly bear, pavement, wilco! oh, we WOULD be friends!!

DeanV's avatar

@ShiningToast I love Modest Mouse, but to me, Steven Malkmus is a better songwriter than Issac Brock. His solo stuff is so much better.
