What gives you Drive in Life?

Asked by fancyfeast (299points) January 20th, 2010

Everyone has their own idea and motivation behind what we do everyday. I would like to know the thoughts and examples of others- What gives you drive?, What sparks the fire within you? Is it your mom, Is it your career?, Is it something spiritual? or anything else that may come to mind. I believe that it is Awesome to learn from one another. Thanks.

for me one of the main driving forces in my life is seeing my grand-kids grow, being a big part of thier life and helping to shape the funny wee people they are becoming!

My boyfriend, he is the reason.

Knowing that things are going to get better.

@rangerr How do you know they will get better?

rangerr's avatar

@Dibley Because they can’t get any worse unless I die in the process of trying.

@rangerr I really know where you are coming from. I feel like that and have that same opinion.

Hypoctite answer would be: ‘love’.
Real world answer is: ‘money’.

To not head into each day with anticipation of what it holds would be so boring. I love working and I love playing, I guess I just enjoy the adventure of life.

Well, after I met my woman everything changed for me. I have a clarity that I have never had before I met her. I will work twice as hard now to make sure I can give her everything in life that she wants and be the best man i can be for her. My family and spirituality also gives me great strength to make it through.

Hope that things will get better than they are.

When I was younger it was an auto pilot thing. Keep on keeping on.

Now it is more like a drive to avoid going hungry or growing old alone and with nothing.

That’s a question I just had to see (and attempt to answer) this morning!

In no particular order:
-MUSIC: Listening to/playing/writing/performing/breathing it!
-LOVE: My girlfriend, family, friends, my cat
-The everyday possibility of finding a REWARDING career (both spiritually and financially)
-CONTINUOUS LEARNING: Learning a new language tops the list for me at the moment. I’m currently learning Arabic, more specifically the Lebanese dialect of Arabic.
-TRAVELING (as long as I can save the money and get the time off work, I will travel. Next up: Hawaii, Bahamas, Ireland or Dubai!)

I want to make a difference, and I want to learn how to be happy even if I don’t make a difference.

The thought of loosing drives me. Cause if your not first your last.

The day when I can tell my asshole boss to piss off, hit him on the head with a key board.
To get a good idea so that I can do my own thing one day and not to work for an asshole.

Unfortunately nothing drives me in life, sometimes I get a spark of motivation but that fades away quickly. Here’s hoping one day I get that passion for life that everyone talks about.
