Where do you find your inspiration?

Asked by warribbons (606points) January 23rd, 2010

Where do you find that drive, inspiration, that desire to do what you do?

eg. Why do you play the guitar? Why do you write your sappy love poems? Why do you play video games? Why do you read? Why do you go cross-country skiing? Why do you swim?

I met a homeless man a year ago, and we talked about various points on guitar playing. He said quite a few memorable things, but probably the best he said was:

“The more you play, the better you get, the better you get, the more you play, the more you play, the better you get, the better you get, the more you play”

I’m pretty sure he was a bit loopy, but good advice on anything. He also insisted that we should continue our passions no matter what. “Fuck what they say, and play”

So inspiring.

I am inspired by people who have little and use the little they have to become very successful Poor people. Physically disabled people. Mentally disabled people. People with little going for them. When these people succeed I am truly inspired. I’ve been given a lot and waste many of my talents I am sure. But when I see people rising above their capability I am awe struck.

The time on spend here on fluther is spent trying to help other people. That inspires me. Is that a waste of effort because you are all basically strangers? I figure if I help one person a day to find a new approach to a problem that ultimately makes their life a little better, then I am not wasting my time or effort. I am just trying to make my time count for something for someone.

I get inspiration from what i have done in the past which is also defined by what i will do in the future.
Inspiration is the gift of those who have experienced life at its most defined moments.

Inspiration is everywhere. It’s just a matter of training yourself to see it.

When we were children, we often complained of boredom. As adults, some of us are better about that. We can choose to be interested in anything. When we really are interested, you can not help but be inspired. The ideas just flow, and your excitement is endless!
