Can someone tell me the name of an old pc game?

Asked by Cpt_Dead_Baby (20points) January 28th, 2010

I used to play this computer game that was awesome. It was probably made between 1995–2002 but i could be a little off. I remember it was a third person action game where for each level you would choose a handful of silly characters from a bunch that needed to be unlocked or something. If you died as a character then you would respawn as the next one and etc. I sorta remember a character that would ram people with a baby carriage or shopping cart or something and another one that threw fire bombs maybe. I vaguely remember a sailor or captain character but that’s all. If someone could tell me the name of this game it would be much appreciated, Thank You.

Is there a better description you can give us?
Like, was there a goal for the game?
How old were you when you played it/what age was it made for?
What did the levels consist of?

I wish i could give a better description i don’t remember any particular plot or goal. I was around 10 years old maybe closer to 13 so it was probably made for kids around that age. I remember very little from the actually levels; maybe one was in a town or city or something. The game had a cartoony feel to it. And thanks, but no it was not super smash bros.

Okay. Do you remember what system it was for? I was a kid in 1999, and I believe those were the days of N64. Was it a cartridge or a disk? Maybe it was Animal Crossing? But I’m not sure if it was around back then. That is a very kids kind of game that is also very cartoony with an obscure objective, if any…at least I couldn’t figure it out.

It was definitely for the pc. I can’t say if it was also adapted for any console.

It wasnt one of the Gauntlet games was it?

Cpt_Dead_Baby's avatar

no it wasn’t one of the gauntlet games, as far as i remember it was very silly with weird characters and if i remember correctly then all the characters had an icon that and they all were displayed in a circle like menu and you clicked each one that you wanted activated for each level. I don’t even remember if there were many different levels after another because i think i usually died pretty quickly.

Yeah I’m stumped, i originally posted this question on two previous sites about 2 months ago with no help from them and I have spent many hours on google trying different searches about characteristics of the game or just lists of old games from that time, but to no avail; I’m driving myself crazy!

Do you remember how the game started up? Anything that can give a clue of who made the game? This question made me nostalgically think of It Came from the Desert!. Another game though.

Cpt_Dead_Baby's avatar

No I really don’t remember how it started up, I would need something to jar my memory.

I believe the game you’re talking about is called Silver.

See this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_%28video_game%29

No its not that game either; i don’t think it had any fantasy elements to it, but thanks.

Damn, I seriously thought I’d found it. :/

Cpt_Dead_Baby's avatar

No, unfortunately not, lol.

Did you pay for it or was it free?

Cpt_Dead_Baby's avatar

That I can’t say because I played it at the neighbors house where i would go after school until one of my parents got home so I don’t know where they got it from, and only one person there knew about the game and i doubt she would remember it and I don’t think they even have the computer any more.

HA! I finally found the game! It’s called H.E.D.Z. and you are an alien who collects different heads to wear that offer different abilities! I want to thank everyone for their time.

Oh, wow. I played that game too! I’d totally forgotten about it. Thank you (really) for digging up this memory. I’m seriously freaking out right now.
