Any ideas on how to modify a "Roller Girl" costume?

I am going to a parade tonight and dressing up as a 70’s character with my buds. I have everything planned out to be roller girl (including my own old school roller skates), but am concerned about my skates and the craziness that is the Quarter, here in New Orleans. Are there any other 70’s characters who kinda dress tomboyish? My outfit so far consists of dolphin shorts and knee highs, heart-shapped sun sunglasses).
