Illusionist, perhaps. This technique can range from magic tricks to puppet shows (a la Topo Gigio).

From Wikipedia’s Glossary of conjuring terms used by magicians: Black Art

The use of a stage fitted with a black velvet curtain background, using assistants and other props that are hidden by black shrouds. Careful lighting helps keep the secret a mystery to the audience.

@gasman thanks, my father is actually a magician. so i know one term is black art. the reason i asked is because when i looked for more videos like this or more information on it on google and things, it kept coming up with other stuff. maybe its just not that popular.

EDIT: for the purpose of adding more information to this, i have found a term called ’‘uv performance’’ that does seem to bring up similar things, but it is actually more like glow in the dark dancing around.

The term “uv performance” is also called “black light”.

The Famous People Players make extensive use of this technique. They are a group of young adults with various types of disabilities who all dress in black and operate brightly colored puppets and set decorations which are painted with a type of paint which “glows” under uv light.

It’s pretty impressive looking and they are very skilled in the art.

A black box show, or a black box theater.
