What would a vintage radio (Tandberg Tr 42) be worth ?

Asked by Staalesen (2722points) January 31st, 2010

I just dug out an old radio from the basement, and got a tip that it was actually worth something.. It is a tandber “model 42” from 1971/1972. It works and beside a stain on the tops looks as good as new… What could it be worth ?

says a 2005 auction sold the teak ‘modell 42’ for 2600 crowns or whatever you have in Norway.

xe says that is around £275 / EUR320 / US$440

Yes, I saw that earlier, but that is a bit outdated, tanberg gets (after what I am told) higher prices in the states/the UK

These are becoming more popular. I have an old (1930s vintage) Hallicrafter shortwave set the size of a major piece of furniture. It actually works, but I don’t know where I would ever find replacement tubes should any go bad.I was recently offered (and turned down) $1500 for it. It’s a family heirloom that is not for sale.

Depends of course on the condition and the current market and like I always say as an art and antiques dealer… “Everything is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.” These days, in this market, you may fetch $500.00 for it in fair to good condition which is the usual state of them, and for a good one in mint condition no more than $900.00
