Dino lovers: Why do we still love them as adults?

Asked by SundayKittens (5834points) February 2nd, 2010

I took an unofficial poll in my classes, and the verdict is that the brontosaurus/apatosaurus is the best “because he is friendly and you can ride him”. I was pleasantly suprised to find that kids these days are still passionate about dinosaurs and had strong opinons about which ones were the best.
Why are dinos still so fascinating? Which do you love?

Velociraptor and Pterydactl (sp) are close runners up. I think there are some renderings on my blawg listed in my info.

I see the question has changed. well. we love them because 1. they are one of the most interesting things ever. 2. they are gone and therefore mysterious. 3. they were huge. 4. THEYRE JUST COOL.

not the mama!!

They made me change it @deni! No “simple polls”, even though I love “simple polls”.

Why do we still love dinosaurs as adults?

BECAUSE THEY’RE AWESOME!

My vote goes to Deinonychus.

I’ve loved them since I was a child myself, and I think it has to do with the fact that they are not with us atm. It makes them mysterious and even something fun to play with. As an artist, I like to use them as a means of being creative and making various designs of what dinosaurs might have looked like. I find them just as beautiful and fascinating as animals today, the only difference is that they are in their unique style of animals that currently do not exist today.

Btw, I mostly love Dromaeosaurids, particuarly that of the Utahraptor. It’s all Robert Bakers fault :P

I don’t…....because I’m an adult.

Because we are thrill seekers and we’d rather visit Jurassic Park than Disneyworld?
