i got a pell grant and i had a job. but i wasn’t listed as a dependant of anyone. still though, i think you can.

You can. Financial Aid goes off your previous tax returns. But when you fill out the FAFSA next year they could give you less since it depends on your income for the previous year.

Well when I filled out the fafsa a couple years ago they didn’t give me the pell grant because I was working a full time job. It wasn’t until I started claiming a dependent that they gave me some money

If I’m not mistaken, I think it’s dependent on need, not necessarily whether you work; i.e. if you don’t make a lot of money and need the grant, then yes, you can get one. I’ve worked and gotten Pell grants, though admittedly I wasn’t making loads of money, either (like $16k or less).

@MissAnthrope how much did you get a semester…right now I am getting 2600 a semester and thats is barely covering my tuition I don’t know if it will drop if I were to work.

@MrGeneVan – I got the max amount, though I can’t remember what that was off the top of my head. Granted, I only made $16,000 a year or less and your eligibility will probably change as you increase in income, but I don’t know what that point is.. Why don’t you just call the financial aid office? They’re pretty knowledgeable and should be able to answer your questions.
