What is the best way to archive AVCHD cards?

Using a Canon Vixia HFS100 video camera and hoping to backup, format, and reuse the card.

Use final cut pro’s batch capture function. It will grab each clip and store them for you.

You could also go through the card’s architecture and find the folder that stores the clips. I frequently do this, since one of my cards isn’t recognized by Final Cut or iMovie.

In addition to capturing the clips with Final Cut or iMovie, you may want to archive a cloned image of the card itself. You can use Apple’s Disk Utility or SuperDuper!.
