The jokes sometimes compensate for something one cannot have. As in, they want to ‘have’ you. I’d take it as a compliment.

I doubt they actually assume you’re dumb, they’re probably just poking fun because you’re conveniently blond and there are infinite dumb blond jokes out there. You’re probably just an easy target for their jokes. I would never assume someone is dumb just by looking at their hair color, and I can’t think of anyone I know who would be that stupidly judgemental.

I have had my hair several colors over my life and I have to admit that my blonde phase was my funnest. Even if they thought I was dumb at first, at least I got their attention and had time to let them hear that I wasn’t. I think people are more impressed by a smart blonde than a smart brunette. I don’t think they do it consciously, but that has been my experience.—Hmm….. maybe I should reconsider and go back to the blonde…....

I only assume blondes are dumb if they have a bad, obviously fake orange tan and their hair is clearly dyed an ungodly shade of blonde that is sometimes closer to white.

People who assume things are people you don’t want to surround yourself with. So, if that’s what they think, then do everything in your power to prove them wrong. You know you’re not dumb! Go to work and make your money, them assuming that you’re dumb will not stop your pay check :) Just laugh at those who belittle you, small people do that!

You don’t have to be blond if you don’t want to be one. I’ve heard a rumor that some people change their hair color. ... However, I never assume anyone to be dumb (or brilliant). I simply wait until they open their mouth and prove it beyond any doubt.

If they do, prove them wrong. Hair color is as much a determination of intelligence as eye color. People suck sometimes.

Well, you have to admit there is a sort of stigma that goes along with being blonde. These certain males could just be buying into the stereotype of a blonde girl, which is completely false. If it bothers you, say something. If you think it’s harmless, have some fun with them; tell jokes back.

Only if they’re a fucking moron. Hair color has nothing to do with intelligence. I’m not bothered by lighthearted blond jokes, but when I see people actually comment on how they only go for brunettes because they’re smarter, that’s when it makes me angry. It’s one of the stupidest stereotypes in existence.

Perhaps they do it because they know it winds you up.
