ITunes deleted all my songs, how do I get them back?

Asked by PhillyCheese (660points) February 22nd, 2010

I was receiving error codes and went to Apple’s website for help, I was reading methods to rid the error codes and it ended up deleting my songs (about 1000). Is there any way in getting them back?

I already went into iTunes, right clicked on my iPhone (under devices) and selected “restore from backup”, it went under the regular restoration process, restarted my iPhone and did not receive any changes, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are the songs still on your computer? Or did you send them to your iPhone and delete them?

They’re all gone except for the 6 I recently downloaded

Are they still on your computer? Are you on OS X or Windows? It is possible that they are still on your computer and iTunes isn’t seeing them. If that is the case you just need to drag them (the actual files) into iTunes and they should should up. Unless you deleted them. If you did you are screwed unless you have a back-up.

I’m on windows. Yep, I deleted my songs after I downloaded them. So I guess I’m screwed. Looks like I’ll have to re-download everything

Why would you delete your songs after you download them?

Lol Im anal with a few things. Chip bags must be closed, food must be covered etc.
Space on my computer is another. After I transfer them to my iPhone, I delete them for space on my computer.

@PhillyCheese That’s never a good idea unless you are really pressed for space. A good rule of thumb is if something isn’t in at least two places, it doesn’t exist.
