Dental Tourism....Thailand or Hungary ?

Asked by ZooutZere (68points) February 24th, 2010

Hi guys. I am starting to do research on the best ( and most economical) location to get some dental work done. I have narrowed the list down to Thailand and Hungary…has anyone on this site ever got dental work done in any of these two places ?

Any advice cheerfully accepted..

No idea, but this was an interesting article I read a few weeks ago about dental work in Korea

Neither of the two but somewhere else . . . Philippines . . . they have western standards and prominent practitioners are even advanced than most US dental practices. They speak english very well and cost anywhere from 25–50% less than what it would cost in the US.

Here’s an actual pricelist found online: http://filipinodentist.com/dentalclinic/fees.htm

Yea there are lots of places that will do it for cheap i guess..including my next door neighbour Mexico…just a bit daunting to pick a place…i picked Thailand and Hungary becase there seems to be heavy traffic to those two destinations and also because they have very many dental establishments specifically set up to handle foreign dental tourists.

My friend used to live in Arizona and she said everyone she knew went down to Mexico to get dental work done. She had a root canal and a crown done there and had no problems with it. Maybe I’m dumb but with what it would cost to travel the world to get some dental work done, wouldn’t it be cheaper just to get it done where ever you live?

@knitfroggy that’s why it’s called dental/medical “vacation”... for the cost of procedures done stateside, you get to travel overseas, get treated and pampered by the local hosts, while making your trip eligible for tax deduction as a medical expense.

@njnyjobs Hmmm…something I’ve never heard of. It’s a good idea!

@knitfroggy, have you seen the prices they’re charging for dental work? I have $20,000 worth of veneers!

I would say either. I live in Thailand and around my office area there are plenty of cheap dental practices. And I have friends who are in Hungary who say the same. I don’t think you can go too wrong if you get referrals before you go.

thanks guys..

Garydale – Are you in Bangkok ? Can you offer any advice about any particular ” favored” dentist or establishmenet ? YES the problem for me is having to entirley depend on online sites for specific information…one always doubts wether or not the countless “testimonials” online are all ” bought and pair for”. It just seems impossible to find honest feedback especially from those that have actually gotton the dental work done.
While its true..i live south of the Mexican border myself…again its been a problem of trying to find the ” tried and tested” information about WHICH dental clinic to choose….once one has selected the country.
