What did you think about the U.S./Canada hockey game?

What a great game! Parise getting the goal that tied the score in the last few seconds of the 3rd quarter? Magic. Overtime happened and Canada got the gold winning goal. I’m from the U.S., so I wasn’t too excited, but I really felt bad for Miller. If you saw the replay, you’d understand why.
I thought that it was kind of rude of NBC to film the way they did after the game. I don’t mean about the Canadian team, they earned it and Crosby desreved a lot of the attention. Honestly, bravo to the Canadian men’s hockey team. It was a fantastic effort from both teams. What I mean is the way they kept showing Miller, who was obviously devastated. Miller, Crosby, Miller, Crosby. The part that really got me was when the U.S. team tried to leave through the back and they then were directed another way. The cameras showed the U.S. team in the background walking away as the Canadian team was getting their picture taken. Maybe I’m just too sensitive about this, :), but I thought that was kinda crappy. My beef isn’t with the teams, it’s with NBC cameramen.
What did other people think about the game?

Great Game
A lot of heart from both teams.
USA probably thought they were going to win…

very well contested…. it could have gone either way.

@py_sue BTW, there’s no quarters in hockey… it’s called periods, 3 of them in a regulation game.

Incredible! Some serious hockey playing.

Great!

Yay!

That was certainly a high-intensity game—both teams were anticipating a win, and you could tell play by play. It was nice to see all the guys really putting their heart into it.

I really would’ve liked to see the US win, but my biggest disappointment was that CROSBY won the game. I. hate. Crosby. Sorry, just my opinion. All in all, a great game!

It was one of the best hockey games I’ve ever seen. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the game. It was hard fought and intense throughout, Congrats to Canada!

Great game. My girlfriend and I watched it in a gay bar in Michigan. I was the token Canadian there and screamed like a little girl when the Canucks one!!

Great job both teams, though!

very disapointing. I thought the U.S might actually have pulled it off.

Woooo hooo hooo! I think those Canadians could have put the game away long ago but allowed the US team back in to the game for the sake of history, TV, and to make it that much sweeter when they made the US team snatch defeat for the jaws of victory they thought they had. Man for man the Canadian team had the best players, the only thing the US team had really was security in numbers, as a swarm or groupe they could do something, but man-on-man about the same as any other team. I enjoyed the heck out of it.

I was so glad Canada won. We made a great showing, but I wouldn’t have wanted us to take it away from them. I don’t think the medal could ever have meant as much to us as it did to them.

I thought it was great! Being Canadian, I was very proud of our men, not only the men’s hockey team, but our men in the long-track speedskating team pursuit and curling, all who garnered gold medals in the last couple of days and made Canada as the country with the most gold medals won at any Winter Games ever! Even Russia and the U.S. never had that many gold medals in the Winter Olympics.

The hockey game was, of course, very tense. I thought Canada let it slip in the 3rd period, but when they scored the winning goal in overtime, everyone here was celebrating. I heard cars honking in my normally quiet neighbourhood, and they played the national anthem and showed the winning goal over and over on t.v. It was getting to be somewhat annoying to be honest. Lol. Btw, the members of our Canadian men’s team are actually older than the U.S. team——maybe experience had something to do with it.

Yes, the media can be cruel to those who lost, but that’s part of the entertainment value of the Olympics. The agony of defeat, so to speak. It’s all part of the game and of sport. When Yu Na Kim got her gold medal in ladies’ figure skating, the cameras kept panning over to her rival, Japan’s Mao Asada, who won the silver, and her very obvious disappointment on her face. Again, I think the media likes to do that——it’s unfortunate, but a lot of people like to see defeat as well as victory.

Great game, hats off to team Canada. Only thing that bums me out is the fact that we beat them a few days earlier and had to play them again. We never lost until today and yet it didn’t matter. Regardless, congrats.

i guess it wasn’t Miller time after all.

Great game! Each team was defeated once by eachother and Canada gets the gold. I know it was based off the game ladder, but I am not satisfied. It would be nice to see the winner of three matches instead of one for the final. I’m sure my thought is flawed but I really wanted to see USA win it. Grats to both teams.

C’mon….it was not like us Yankees did not buy our way into the most gold medals ever with Bodine hi-tach sleds, breaking the Nordic Combine glass ceiling, vanguishing the Russian from the ice skating podium in pairs and womens, what more can you ask for? The Russian did not ever GET a hockey medal, something that was automatically theirs like the gold taken by the Dream Basketball teams of the US.

A great battle of the borders!
I had heart attacks watching this game, I almost broke the TV when the USA scored in the 3rd.
Overtime was like I was in cardiac arrest.

But amazing game nonetheless. Big ups to team USA, but go Canada!!

Lay off Miller or we’ll stuff a place where the sun doesn’t shine full of Buffalo wings.
Hot Buffalo wings.
