What can stop a bruised eye from hurting?

Asked by chiplmprincessa (70points) March 3rd, 2010

I was playing monkey in the middle with a couple of friends and one of my friends, Kazia, was in the middle. When my other friend (who wasn’t the monkey) threw the ball to me I didn’t catch it and it landed on the ground. So me and Kazia both headed towards the ball and she accidently elbowed me in the eye! It hurt soo bad! I didn’t cry but Kazia even said her elbow was hurting. The bruise is like right beside my eye and it hurts so bad. I got it on Monday and it still hurts today! I tried ice but it didn’t work. I used the ice at night and in the morning it actually hurt worse! It’s just a bruise but it’s right beside my eye which is a tender spot so it really hurts! Anyway I can help it?

Ducking?

Not a lot aside from the usual like ice or a cold pack. A pack of frozen peas will do in a pinch.

You may want to see a doc. The bone near the eye socket is quite fragile and you may have more damage than you know.

@chiplmprincessa it is possible that the cornea has been scratched! very very painful!

NOT ASPIRIN. Take Tylenol. If you have some sort of slow bleed, or develop one in your eye you do not want to have blood thinner in your system, and aspirin thins your blood.

I agree you might want to see a doctor to make sure nothing has been damaged internally to your eye.

Percodan or Demerol.
Get it looked at by a doctor.

@JLeslie yep, aspirin could make it bleed more…

@BoBo1946 Thanks. I just went back and added, thinking I needed to explain, and then I saw your post :).

If it really hurts, then Cruiser is right – see the doc. The orbital bone could be chipped or broken.

If something hurts that much, and it is as critical as an eye, I would go to a doctor to check it out. Pain may be trying to tell you something.
