New Welsh language laws expected?

Asked by Siblinings (136points) March 4th, 2010

Some business’ will not be able to afford Welsh alternatives, and with almost 100% of the population being able to speak English are they just trying to add another layer of bureaucracy rules and regulations where they are not needed?

I think the Welsh alternative should be optional.

I agree with @mattbrowne. I currently have a part-time job in a small family-owned business (based in Carmarthen, South Wales), in which only one staff member can speak welsh. None of the customers we get mind us not being able to speak welsh and if the company had pay to offer Welsh alternatives I can’t see it surviving for very long..

Huh. Learning Welsh Gaelic is on my list of stuff to do. I want to get Rosetta Stone and plan on it just as soon as I finish this degree that I’m working on.

@Trillian I’m waiting ‘til I finish my degree to learn Japanese with that software!
