What are your picks for Oscars night ?

Asked by ucme (50047points) March 6th, 2010

Predictions for oscar glory. We can look back when it’s over & choose our own overall winner based on correct hits. You may “vote” on the following.

Best picture
Best actor in a leading role
Best director
Best actress in a leading role

Anyone correctly predicting all four may recieve a small prize in the form of kudos.

I have not heard of most of the movies named here

(Although I suspect it will really be Sandra Bullock, I just think Helen Mirren deserves it much more.)

I predict:

Picture: Avatar
Director: James Cameron
Actor: Jeff Bridges
Actress: Sandra Bullock
.
.
I want:
Picture: District 9
Director: Kathryn Bigelow (or, really, anyone but douchebag Cameron)
Actor: Colin Firth
Actress: Gabourey Sidibe
.
.
Also, I would very much like Coraline or The Secret of Kells to win Best Animated Feature, but Up (which I didn’t really care for) is my prediction. :(

janbb's avatar

@mcbealer @MacBean I agree about Coraline too; it was wonderful Haven’t seen The Secret of Kells yet but I’m dying to. I do think Up will porbably win and I wasn’t crazy about it either.

mcbealer's avatar

jonsblond's avatar

@mcbealer I have to admit, she just gave a beautiful speech.

WOOHOO! The Hurt Locker won best picture! My faith in humanity is – partially – restored.

mcbealer's avatar

@janbb ~ did you see the way ackward body language between Bigelow and Mark Boal? He very obviously wanted to include her in the moment when accepting the Oscar for Best Motion Picture, and grabbed her arm and kept tugging her until she finally moved in closer to the mic. Very funny.
