What memory card do I have to use for the Canon Vixia HF S10 camcorder?

Asked by xTheDreamer (897points) March 6th, 2010

So I bought the camcorder and I have no idea which, what memory card I have to use for the Vixia HF S10. Which is usable for the camcorder.

Give me a brand name, the details etc of the memory card that is able to use with the camcorder. Let me know about anything else that I should need to know, thank you!

@aprilsimnel @bvdshec17 So SD is just the same is SDHC? So can I use my memory card that I use for my camera for the camcorder? It says SD on it but it’s by SanDisk.

@xTheDreamer I don’t think they’re the same, but they are pretty similar.

A SDHC card with the capacity of 16GB can hold up to 2 hours of video recorded at highest quality setting.

When recording to a memory card, the recording time depends only on capacity of the card. The HF100 uses full-size SDHC memory cards. One 4GB card can fit roughly 30 minutes of video at highest quality setting.

The Vixia HF10 has 16GB of internal memory, complementing the same full-size SDHC memory card slot as the HF100.

SanDisc manufactures SD cards, but the format is called Secured Digital, and any number of companies make such cards. Check it out on Amazon or similar.
