Who designed the fender "spaghetti" logo?

Asked by grntwlkr (179points) March 24th, 2010

what design firm, or designer, designed the fender logo. I’m assuming it is based on leo fender’s signature, but could be wrong. Does fender outsource it’s graphic design to a firm, or is run in-house?

I think this came about after Leo Fender sold the company to Columbia Broadcasting… pre-1966 Fenders do not have this logo (and are worth a lot more.)

I have the amp logo (not the spaghetti) tattooed on my left shoulder.

@stratman37 Wait, so do yo like Strats? ;)

DO I?!?! No, I don’t like strats. I ADORE strats!

I’m just “clustering” here, so bear with me. I just watched more of the DVD “It Might Get Loud” and when I got to the part where Jimmy Page is talking about getting his first Fender Stratocaster, and how much it meant to him, I started to cry. It took me a minute to figure out why. Then it hit me. When I got my Strat, I was as nervous as I was on my wedding day. Here I was receiving a piece of music history, one of the things that made rock and roll so moving.

@stratman37 This may be sacrilege for you, but I have a Peavey built on the strat body (but with a humbuckler pickup) that has been my best guitar for something like 12 years. That setup, along with the tele really have something going for them. Serious longevity there. I’ve been learning classical lately, actually – and have been managing to bang it out pretty well on the strat body – but the time is fast approaching where I need to pick up a classical.

@JeanPaulSartre , do what ya gotta do for playability. I have a Peavey T-60 with two humbuckers, and I also retrofitted my strat with a stacked HB in the bridge position. Great for lead work.

@stratman37 Yeah, that’s part of the beauty of the strat for sure – 3 pickup positions leaves room for some customizing. I know a few people with some serious frankenstrats.

@PacificToast William Golden designed the cbs logo not the fender. Fender designer is still a ?

@grntwlkr Sorry, I just Googled, not really educated research.

@stratman37 No problem. I’m rather into logos.
