What are your fantasy dreams like?

Asked by MissAnthrope (21511points) April 2nd, 2010

Entirely of my own devising from observation, I classify dreams into different categories. Stress dreams, bad dreams/nightmares, dreams that represent problems you’re working through, etc. Then there are what I call fantasy dreams.

A fantasy dream to me is something you dream purely for the pleasure evoked while dreaming. Because of the infinite possibilities while dreaming, you can do whatever makes you happy and the impossible can be possible for this short period of time. In mine, there’s no need to analyze them because the meaning is very pure and simple—it’s just for the feel-good sensations and usually I wake up feeling all warm and happy.

I’m wondering what other people dream about, in this category of dreams.

Me, I usually dream about the beginning stages of a relationship with a girl. This girl is never anyone I know, either a made-up character or celebrities (Kirstin Dunst and Anna Torv in recent dreams). The dreams really differ in situation, but the basic theme is that I meet this girl, am very attracted to her and start having love-y feelings, she is attracted back, and we do the early relationship dance of flirting, intense feelings, sexual tension, and for me, that whole giddy Oh my god, SHE is attracted to ME? I can’t believe it! Yaaaaay!! It evokes all the feelings of beginning a new relationship, which feels awesome! I wake up wanting to go back to sleep, a little sad it’s over, but it puts me in a good mood for the rest of the day.

So what are your fantasy dreams like?

Winning the lottery (though I never play)

I get very detail oriented about it.

Usually me and partner in my favorite locales smiling and hugging. Pretty simple stuff but they also remind me of places I want to go again, little things maybe long forgotten.

I don’t have (or don’t remember) fantasy dreams, only fantasy day dreams. When I do have them though, it’s usually me having sex with a super hot woman.

Your dreams sound amazing. You have reminded me that I simply do not dream enough. They say if you can dream it you can do it? Does it work?

I use to dream about falling out of the sky.

Then one day I did.

I don’t ever have fantasy dreams of the sort that you describe here. My dreams are usually not pure pleasure. Often there’s an element of adventure and danger in them and sometimes there’s even a coherent plot. (Bad plot, but plot all the same).

They usually involve warm bodies of water (like lakes or lagoons or whatever) and my husband in younger years. (And that’s all I’m sayin’) ;oX

Sex. Or, to steal part of an idea from @UScitizen, bacon and sex… not necessarily in that order or any combination.

I only have them when I’m awake. They are usually sexually motivated, but not exclusively.

Interesting so far.. keep them coming!

So, do you think a fantasy dream is about something you really want? What’s interesting to me is that mine pretty much always have the same theme. I don’t dream about flying, or being rich, or being powerful, or even having sex with ridiculously hot people (and who doesn’t want that?). I rarely have sex dreams and when I do, it’s more frustrating than anything (usually me trying to get laid and being thwarted over and over). I guess I really love that golden stage of a relationship because the most I ever get in those dreams is a kiss. :P And yet, somehow, it’s so much more satisfying than my actual sex dreams.

My fantasy dreams are Bible Black meets Dragon Pink (NSFW for either, nor any rational mind should you choose to search), with a whole lot of Clash of the Titans, Independence Day and Lord of the Rings thrown in for good measure, usually ending with or revolving around my being god-like.

I had dreams of flying, but it was an unstable sort of thing; sometimes the power deserted me.

Mine starts with ocean waves pulsing against our bodies and when we tire of the pounding surf we retreat to the beach side hammock where cold wheat beers await us. The hot sun soon forces us to retreat to the cold double shower/jacuzzi where lit candles and choice CD music complete the ambiance. Fast forward to snacks of delicious finger food as the sun sets and we again secure our spot in the hammock as twilight again heralds the beginning of the evenings festivities!! Repeat as needed! ;)

I had half a dream tonight: that BLT was nice.

I still have my fingers crossed for the rest of the dream.

I’m a bit envious of those that have awesome sex fantasy dreams. DAMN, even in my dreams, I can’t get laid. ;)

Seriously, though, for like scientific purposes and stuff, you guys really have fantasy dreams about food?

I had another one last night.. this time the star was Famke Janssen, only she wasn’t really herself, she was a teacher or something. I guess my brain has good taste. Damn, she’s hot. ;)
