There is a water park there. Only drove to the water park . Liked the area. Look for the local chamber of commerce and give them a call. They usually have a listing of events taking place during your visit and things to do in the local community or at least near by. Some will even send you pamplets if you request it.

There are some nice places to eat there and some cute stores for shopping. It kind of depends on what you like to do. One of my favorite stores for essential oils is there—Down to Earth—they’ll actually mix a custom perfume for you for a really reasonable price. It’s really fun and then you have the perfect perfume. Plus, five years later when you want more, they’ll mix more for you and mail it off to you. It’s in the Cotton Exchange with a bunch of other random, interesting things.

The beach right in there is also quite lovely. I really like Topsail Island which is north of Wilmington.

With a historic riverfront town, three island beaches and more than 45 attractions, there’s lots to see and do in Wilmington & NC’s Cape Fear Coast! In fact, you will probably need more than a day since there’s so much to do and it’s located on NC’s southern coast—nearly 300 miles south of the Outer Banks. For a free official visitors guide to Wilmington & NC’s Cape Fear Coast, email visit@capefearcoast.com or call 1–866-266–9690. The Official destination website is www.gocapefearcoast.com. We hope you’ll visit soon! C. Nelson, Wilmington/Cape Fear Coast CVB
