How much oxygen released by trees?

Asked by 9doomedtodie (3113points) April 19th, 2010

Today, the population of human being is growing on & on.In day time the trees release O2 & Human being release CO2 vice versa. What is the percentage of O2 released by trees compared to CO2 released by human being?

Does it depend on size, shape, age, type of tree?

I did a Google search for information about the amount of oxygen produced by trees and was surprised to learn that nobody seems to know. I would think that it would be possible to do at least a rough estimate of how much oxygen comes from the ocean compared to the land, but even that seems not to be known.

It requires 22 trees to produce the amount of oxygen consumed by one person. (An acre of trees produces enough oxygen for 18 people). This data comes from the Northwest Territories Forest Management site
