Need feedback from people who have gone through Hepatitis C treatment?

Asked by truecomedian (3937points) April 21st, 2010

People who went through with the injections (Pegasus) and the pills, and either were cured or not. What can be done to ease the side effects, such as the nausea, the trouble sleeping. Should I be trying to get as much excercise as possible. I’m not eating very much, and I feel like I can’t go through another 46 weeks of this.

My mother has Hep C and went through that tx twice in her life – it was horrid each time and she dropped out because she hates the side effects. It didn’t cure her but she doesn’t care – I wish she’d go through it but it’s not my place to tell her. I’m sorry I don’t have a better, more inspiring, story. Good luck!

It didn’t help my mom at all. She just….quit after a while. It wasn’t helping, & she was tired of the side effects. From what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t recommend it. I was little, but my mom looked creepy & thin, like some zombie or something.

My friend went through Interferon treatment, she no longer has Hep C. She was sick a lot for a couple years though.

I feel like a zombie, but I’m not going to quit. It is a struggle to get through each day, but I have no choice, to quit would be awful too. I have to keep trying, thaks for all the answers.

A friend of mine said that he was going through treatment when 9/11 happened, and he was really emotional about it, because of the fatigue. As a bit of support, now he has been cured and is in a great place. You can do it too, look to the future!
