What's the secret of your success?

Asked by ftp901 (1318points) April 23rd, 2010

If you’ve had success in your life/work/achievements what was the one thing that made the difference for you?

What quality or character trait do you have that led to that success?

What makes you more successful than the average joe in your area of achievement?

Deep desire, and persistence. Conviction that I could succeed, and wouldn’t give up until I did.

I solve problems quickly and decisively. Being pretty smart has helped quite a bit too!

Belief in my ability, discipline, persistence and resilence. I’ve seen enough changes in my life to know the odds are with me to always recover and each time gain more than I’ve lost. Patience is another thing all together though, it’s heavy on the scales when I balance it agains all the positives I muster.

I’m surprised no one has said “My Education” yet.

I have to work twice as hard for a lot of my achievements because I am not the smartest, or quickest, or brightest star in the heavens. I consider myself successful in my employment because of persistence, dedication to the business and the mission, and making the right choices at the right time. It’s all about not giving up with a little bit of luck to act as a catalyst.

Family influence and a well-invested trust fund. Certainly nothing to do with my abilities.

Not viewing success as most people view it. I don’t make a lot of money, but I am very happy.

Happiness and passion.
I want to do things. So I do them and that makes me happy.

I have always treated people the way i wanted to be treated.

In my line of work, this is not always possible, but i applied that belief whenever i could. i always had a smile on my face and treated everyone equally.

Being fair and giving people the benefit of the doubt has also worked for me. also, being a people person did not hurt.

I was determined to retire as a police officer, without a blemish on my conduct. i did this and i am most proud because of it. i never intentionally mistreated anyone.

Passion. anything i am passionate about i either develop skills for or have natural ability in and try to pursue. I’ve learned to go with those things (for me it’s been to pursue advertising—specifically digital and the strategy side of it). I think it’s so important not try to force dedication where it doesn’t feel organic. When you are passionate about something, you can excel with hard work but that hard work won’t feel draining it will be regenerating. Hope that helps!
