What prompted you to actually join fluther.com?

Asked by mcbealer (10229points) March 11th, 2008

The questions posted? A friend’s invite? Feedback on http://www.apple.com/webapps/socialnetworking/fluther.html or someplace else?

For me, I heard about it on apple’s website, but it was the content I saw when I checked it out that did it.

I was invited to join the beta, being an aunt of of of the founders. I also brought some gravitas to balance out the youngsters. Alas, that no longer seems effective…

honestly…the iPhone web application website.

I came for the freak and stayed for the food. Yar.

Seriously, though, I learned about it via an iPhone app list or something similar in August of 2007. I was hooked by the quality of the community and the fact that I got to exhaust a list of questions that I’d been carrying around for many, many years.

Oh… apparently the “velvety design” appeals to me as well.

same as kevbo-back in October, I found it as one of the early links on AppList. Been hooked ever since :)

I saw something about it on a friend’s twitter status…so I went to check out the website not really knowing what it was about…and here I am. :-)

I actually found fluther in december 06 because of a random google search. I was making up words and then googling them. Found fluther, loved the idea. Been here since.

I found it through my iPhone, but stayed because I realized this was the forum I had been looking for… forever.

Recommendation from someone who brought one of the posts’ content to another site.

I was invited by a friend about a month or two ago. When I saw howawesome it was, I decided to stick around.

Found the site via Apple, sometimes everything clicks, design, ease of use, wealth of knowledge…the site is just brilliant. I’m sure it is soon to be a verb like google, xerox and tivo.

From Daring Fireball. But stayed when I found out that the person playing Moe in Veronica Mars (Andrew McCain) the TV show I actually started using it and getting into it. How often does a cool TV actor work on a totally cool Web 2.0 site?!

The cool guy is cool Andrew *Mcclain and yes, he is totally cool.

Bah. Sorry Andrew! Thanks, gailcalled. The one time I forgo the copy-paste…

I was going to say “probably because of some web 2.0 article”, but bluemukaki’s answer brings it back: “ome Blog post about great design turned up on Digg, I visited the site and joined up!”

I was actually browsing the the Fluid icons group on Flickr and I saw the icon and thought it looked cool! Curious as I am, I went on and found that it was an alternative to Yahoo answers which frankly I really don’t like and would be happy to see a similar community like it, only better. And this was it!

sndfreQ's avatar

@Magnus-great to have you here-I’ll try not to think of you as the “beach ball of death” :)

gailcalled's avatar

@sndfreQ; not only the “bouncing bbod”, but Magnus’ mother tongue is Norwegian. How depressing.

Google searching “apple logo sticker hackintosh”... wanted to know if the rumors were true. Loved the site, just joined. Hello, world!

AshlynM's avatar

I think I just Googled something and Fluther came up. Also, I thought I might try and get more, mature, serious answers here than on some other Q and A sites.

G_tech's avatar

was saying good-by to a few AB friends on the site and one of the e-mailed me to come over and check the site out, so here I am.
