Does this movie from the 80's or 90's sound familiar to anyone and can you tell me what it's called ?

Asked by Storybooklover (278points) May 2nd, 2010

I only remember that the boy is dreaming and he’s in a gym and realizes that the ghost is in his dream and wakes himself up. Another sequence I remember is the ghost taking the boy to visit his childhood who is now an elderly woman.

I’m pretty sure it’s not Donnie Darko. I own every version/edition of that movie & it doesn’t fit the profile. My guess is along the lines of something of a Christmas Carol spin-off. Like Scrooged from 1988. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096061/ Let me dig deep into my movie knowledge & if I can think of something fitting, I’ll write back.

Here is a complete list of every Christmas Carol adaptation. Maybe sift through them (by year released) to see if something sounds familiar.

Oh gosh, I know exactly what you’re talking about, but I can’t remember what it’s called…
researching

He’s trying to find out who killed him, right? It ends up being some kids from his school… something is left in the woods. I have my husband on his Netflix queue now.

The Invisible, maybe?

Ok that’s not it… I don’t think your last sentence makes much sense. The ghost is an elderly woman, or his childhood has an elderly woman in it?

Could it be an episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Totally off topic, but “The Invisible” was an excellent movie. He was trying to get someone to find him before he died. It was great.

@Seek_Kolinahr Oh yeah, that’s right! It was pretty good. Much better than I thought it would be.

I think I might have found the answer. DREAM A LITTLE DREAM OF ME with Corey Feldman and Corey Haim. There’s nothing about ghosts in it though. I actually think I saw this movie as a child and then had a dream about it and the dream was the part I remembered. Great Movie though slightly complicated.

@Storybooklover You should rent it and see if you remember any more of it. I hope you found the right one! Now I’ll have to see it, too.
