Have you ever felt: Your friends were talking about you?

Asked by Love_or_Like (443points) May 4th, 2010

The other day I was reading one of my friends Blog. They were talking about their friends. But I felt they were talking about me. They were saying that sometimes their friends only thing about their self’s. But they still liked that person, because they know that person was not like that. That something made them change and they know they will not do it again. I felt that I was the person they were talk about. Have you ever felt like that?

Have you ever felt: Paranoid?

Yup.

No, because I am honest and straight forward with my friends. And if I felt that way, I would ask them. So there you go. Just ask

Probably. Doesn’t bother me much.

What a pity…all those souls, and not one of your own.

OMG!! I do!, Today when I was grilling my sandwich at school, I looked over the table I sit and I saw my friends talking and they were always looking at me, it looked as if they were talking about me but they werent.

hug_of_war's avatar

@Thesexier omg…you have a grill at your school?! Lucky…

Get over it and plan on it happening for the rest of your life! Plus if they are talking about you that means you are relevant in some way good or bad and that is good in my book! It is when they stop talking about you is when you fade into obscurity! Enjoy the attention I say!

Remember: you are not as interesting as you think you are.

@PandoraBoxx this is great advice if you’re afraid of social embarrassment, too. You can always persuade yourself no one’s going to bother remembering your spectacular fall trying to get off the escalator.

I generally trust my friends. If I share a secret with one they will only share it with other friends I am as close to and probably would tell anyway, if that. I’m sure they talk about me when I’m not around but it’s probably innocuous: “Yesterday we were talking about Venn diagrams and she said something really funny” or “You know she’s planning on going to New Zealand?”.

I imagine there are days where a friend will go, “I can’t stand her today, she’s being too demanding”, but if my friends can’t vent about me, how will they blow off steam? These are all hypotheticals I try not to think about too much. At least until they start avoiding me or poisoning my food.

@Thesexier how can you grill at your school?!

People talk about people all the time. There are only tfour things you can do.
1. Give them nothing to talk about.
2. Give them a lot to talk about.
3. Have no friends.
4. Just don’t give a crap and live your life your way. Eventually they will move on to someone else.

It happens unfortunately.

I heard these quotes that was helpful. I am not sure who is the author. You can quietly think these sentences below or next time it happens.

Great minds minds talk about ideas. Average minds talk about events. Small minds talk about people.
