Can anyone help me with my pride and prejudice(Jane Austen book) paper?

Asked by Peinrikudo (235points) May 4th, 2010

I read Pride and Prejudice and am ashamed to say I have hardly retained anything from the novel. If anyone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it! The specifications of my paper are as follow:

Write a well-developed essay supported by evidence from the text on one of the following topics:

1. Journeys appear as a motif in Pride and Prejudice. Explain how the journeys that take Jane, Lydia, and Elizabeth from Longbourne function in the text beyond purely physical movement.

Remember to include a works cited page and in-text citations.

You want someone on Fluther to write your paper for you? Sorry, we don’t do homework.

Hahahaha, no, definitely not! I just need some help with Lydia and Jane.

Guess I should have been a little more specific. I already have everything finished for Elizabeth, but am having trouble with the other two as aforementioned.

Reread it !!! It’s a good book.

@Peinrikudo:I am interested in reaching true enlightenment through understanding pain and suffering,...

The remainder of your well-supported essay may assist you on the path to true enlightenment. P & P is not only one of the best books written in English, but it is also short.

It has one of the most famous opening sentences ever written. Memorize that for showing off later in life.

@gailcalled I remember the opening sentence, but like I said, I just need help with Lydia and Jane. I don’t have enough time to reread the book. Hmm. . .maybe I should read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies? lol

If you got off the computer, you’d have more time to reread. We might suggest better study habits, but that’s all you’re going to get from the collective, kiddo.

Peinrikudo's avatar

@gailcalled Ah well, it was worth a shot. And besides, if I have to reread a book I didn’t get the first time, it doesn’t seem worth it. I guess I need to work on appreciating literature. lol.

Sorry, no. Fittingly enough, I’m prejudiced against doing someone else’s homework.

Honestly I don’t blame you for not getting much out of Pride and Prejudice. I never read the original, but I did start Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which is more or less the same thing with added passages in the same style of writing. Even with the hilarity of a zombiepocolypse added in, I couldn’t get through it (and I’m a pretty avid reader!). I know people who obsess over Jane Austen, but her writing style just isn’t for everybody.

That being said, I can’t give you that much help for your paper. Have you tried Spark notes? They can be quite helpful.

Peinrikudo's avatar

@bob_ hahaha, I like that response.

@ParaParaYukiko I tried Spark Notes, but it’s pretty worthless for writing an essay. At least you’re not berating me, or my apparently lousy study habits. I’ll admit, my question wasn’t worded right so I can see why people would assume I am inquiring of them to write my entire essay, but I just need even the smallest amount of help. I want to edit the question, but fluther won’t let me. :(

Ah well. Thanks anyway!

Cliffnotes, duh!

Or if you can’t afford them or don’t have the time to acquire:

PinkMonkey dot com saved my life in AP English….more than once.

Wow! Your in luck. It my favorite book of all times. Ready.
It about this girl who meets this stuck up guy and she thinks he is bias only to discover that she has some biases of her own. They hate each other are amused by each other than get angry with each other and then wed. The end! I hope this gets you an A.

If you’re really desperate, watch the movie and take notes.

Think about where Jane goes to stay and what effect it has on her life/relationships. Where does Lydia go? What happens to her there? How does it affect the rest of her life? This isn’t rocket science.
