Why don't some people like cheesecake?

Asked by Draconess25 (4461points) May 8th, 2010

I mean, I could understand if you’re lactose intolerant, but my girlfriend is, & even she loves cheesecake.

Does anyone dislike this marvelous food?
If so, why?

I hate cheese cake because of its texture and because cheese and cake should never be in one phrase.

Draconess25's avatar

@Simone_De_Beauvoir But you just used it in one phrase….

I neither like nor dislike cheesecake. I don’t think of it at all because I find it bland. There are much more interesting tastes to be had for dessert.

The same reason people dont like anything. Everyone has likes and dislikes. and its a good thing . or there wouldn’t be enough cheescake to go around.

No one can explain the why of taste and personal preference. No matter how popular some foods are, someone will dislike them. No matter how unpopular some foods are, someone will love them.

I adore cheesecake, and I don’t want an eclair anywhere near me. I love lobster, but I’d rather have a hamburger than a steak. Give me a choice between a marshmallow and a chunk of raw cauliflower, and I’ll pick the vegetable without hesitation. Why? You got me.

Seaofclouds's avatar

I don’t like the taste of cheesecake.

Draconess25's avatar

@Jeruba I’d go for broccoli over cauliflower, but not a marshmallow. They’re too sweet for me.

Some people just don’t like some things. Just because someone can’t eat dairy doesn’t mean they don’t like dairy FYI. It just means they physically shouldn’t consume it. I don’t like cheesecake because it tastes like fat and sugar…..it’s too rich and I feel like I need to workout after eating it.

Some people just hate it. Me? I can’t live without cheesecake… well could, but it would be a miserable life. :P

Is there a problem with disliking the taste of cheesecake? I don’t think it’s sweet enough. The only cheesecake I’ve had and liked required one part cheesecake to one part blackberry sauce.

In my humble opinion, it is not worthy of the word ‘cake’. There, I said it.

I don’t like baked cheesecake- rotten after taste.

Draconess25's avatar

@faye There’s such thing as baked cheesecake? Wouldn’t the cheese melt?

janbb's avatar

Most cheesecake is baked.

Draconess25's avatar

@janbb Really? Not the kind my Kitten makes….

janbb's avatar

I’m sure there are a variety of types but a classic cheesecake – meaning NY style – is eggs mixed with cream cheese, vanilla and possibly a few othe things and baked in a graham cracker or cookie crust in a slow oven for about an hour. There is also Italian style cheesecake which is made with ricotta but I believe it is also baked.

Draconess25's avatar

@janbb I’ll tell her to make me some! I can’t cook anything, so pardon my blatant stupidity.

janbb's avatar

Classic homemade cheesecake is good and I’m not a big cheesecake fan.

slick44's avatar

I love cheesecake. but i cant stand the thought of it all going to my ass.

lillycoyote's avatar

I LOVE cheesecake, and like you, don’t understand how anyone could not like. It’s ambrosia, it’s the food of the gods.

stranger_in_a_strange_land's avatar

@Draconess25 I love cheesecake, but it doesn’t love me (same reason as your girlfriend).

Sophief's avatar

I hate cheesecake, it’s just got the most horrible texture, but I don’t like many desserts.

Draconess25's avatar

@stranger_in_a_strange_land Ellie has a horrible habit of poisoning herself. One time, she got drunk & almost downed a bottle of lighter fluid!

perspicacious's avatar

It’s silly to think there is an answer to why some people may not like any food. Personally, I don’t care for cheesecake because it is so dense and heavy.

Draconess25's avatar

@perspicacious Sounds like my brother!

perspicacious's avatar

@Draconess25 He may be like me and prefer a good light lemon icebox pie.

Draconess25's avatar

@perspicacious No, I mean he’s dense & heavy.

Draconess25's avatar

@perspicacious Well, how else should I think of him? He’s an abusive alcoholoic on steroids that just got bailed out of prison!
