Does this sound like a wheat allergy?

Asked by stardust (10562points) May 15th, 2010

When I eat pizza or white bread, I get awful stomach cramps and bloating. It doesn’t happen every time. Pasta, brown bread, bagels, etc seem to be fine.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?

it might be a very slight wheat intolerance very different to an allergy.

A recent article in the New York Times reported that new research shows that food allergies are over-diagnosed. It is more likely to be an intolerance than an allergy.

This article gives a concise description of the difference between food intolerance and food allergies.

Thank you all for the responses. Yes, it seems like a slight intolerance as opposed to an allergy. Silly me :)

@stardust I wouldn’t say silly. The only reason I know there is a difference between the two is because my son has allergies. It is important to determine the difference in order to properly deal with it.

Sounds more like lactose intolerance. What happens if you drink a big glass of milk?
