What's wrong with my fridge?

Asked by ItalianPrincess1217 (11979points) May 23rd, 2010 from iPhone

I’ve noticed within the past week, the beverages in my fridge haven’t been very cold. I turned up the cold level all the way to 9 and it hasn’t made a difference. The freezer seems just fine though. The ice cream is frozen so that’s a good sign. What could be wrong with my fridge? Any ideas? Simple fix? Time for a new fridge?

Edit: My freezer isn’t working anymore either. It’s not keeping my ice cubes frozen.

The compressor is probably shot.
New fridge time.

The problem with your refrigerator most likely is the little fan in the freezer section.
Find the model number and check out this site for the location of the part.

My Whirpool was bought back in the 80s and it finally had to be replaced. we did our research and the new fridge we purchased was a Samsung. J.D. Powers has rated the Samsung the no. 1 refrigerator/freezer on the market for three years in a row. after looking at a new one, we now know why. french doors at the top and a huge freezer at the bottom.

How old is you fridge? it sounds like it has bit the dust and you need to go shopping. we bought ours at Lowe’s and the price was right.

Did you know that a refrigerator is the no. 1 appliance for home fires? it goes on and off many times a day and night, so if your fridge is older, its time for a replacement.

Repairs are so expensive that you’ll probably find it best to just buy a new one. Watch Home Depot for specials—I just bought a discontinued Hotpoint for less than half of the regular price.

I had the same problem with my refridge. The problem was a pea stuck in the hose(rubber tubing) in the back of the freezer. I was told not to store to much stuff in the freezer so that it can breathed. Also the aligement on my refridge door was a little off. Hope that helps.
