Describe some particular memorable moments in your everyday life?

Asked by iamsophie (36points) May 24th, 2010

Basically im doing a project about “moments” The little things that you may see on the way to work, what someone says, looks like, the surroundings, everything. Just somthing that makes you smile/content. This is for a photography and mixed media project that i shall be presenting in an exhibition. Thankyou so much!

Seeing my garden in full bloom is a highlight of my day. Work, screaming kids, crappy news on the radio and my garden erases all the crud.

This sounds like a highly personal project. You should try to reflect on your daily life and consider what little things you appreciate.
If it were me, I might include a box of blue American Spirits (what my boyfriend smokes), facial hair to signify the way his beard feels when he grows it out. Facebook notifications and text messages always make me smile. Sunlight streaming into a window, my dorm room always got excellent afternoon sun. A queen size bed to represent my bed at home…capturing the blissful feeling I get after a long, exhausting day when I can finally slip under my covers and snuggle into my extremely comfortable bed. Best feeling ever. I’m sure I could come up with more, but hopefully those will give you some inspiration!

Something that makes me smile and feel content is the sound of my boyfriend making our daughter laugh. It literally is the best sound in the world. Every time I hear it, it reminds me that I have a family who loves and cares for me and that’s what makes everyday a good day. =]

Hearing & seeing Ellie & Rachel. Gizmo & Snickers giving me their puppy eyes. Watching a beautiful sunrise/sunset, or a vicious storm. The flames on the stove asRachel cooks me yummy food. Ellie misspelling something (which happens once a day. No more, no less.) Ellie & Rachel proving me wrong. Their hugs & kisses. Looking over our drawings, poetry, & notes from high school. Sleeping in until noon. Being shoved off the bed by Rachel. Nearly being crushed by Ellie…......

I could go on all day!

Kids of the neighborhood coming home from school, the first hours of the morning as the city awakens, unpacking stuff from the supermarket and putting it where it is supposed to go all around the house starting from the kitchen, phone calls from friends and family just to say hi and to see if you are ok, getting home from work and sinking into the couch, so many things to think about which don’t come to mind right now.

Fireworks. They’ll start happening almost every week where I live beginning on Memorial Day. Boom!

Like @le_inferno said, sounds like a highly personal project. (But I would so totally ask this question to get my brain going.) Me, I love seeing pictures of these kids I haven’t seen in about 2 years. They’re getting so big! And I love noticing how much my sister is right now like me at that age. Kind of scary but fun.

My dog makes me smile. I get to wake up to her cute little face every morning.
There are two bluebirds that fly to my mom’s porch every morning and steal cat food. That’s wonderful to watch.
At night, if I’m driving home on one of the particular freeways in my city, you get an absolutely amazing view of downtown. It looks like this. Pretty breathtaking.

And literally, two seconds ago, my dog was trying to catch a fly with her mouth.
That made me smile. Like dis—————-> :D

Sitting on the bus and watching the trees pass by, and the progress of the plants that grow by the bus route that I’ve observed year round.

I go to class on Mondays in a neighboring community, driving toward the hills and back again. The best clouds in the area form over those hills. I am a big fan of clouds, which I regard as some of nature’s most spectacular feats, all the better for their transitory quality. Each day there is a spectacular show. One day they will be thick, menacing nimbostratus clouds with black Hitchcock-movie undersides. Another day they will be a quilted counterpane of altocumulus cotton balls. All the possible shades of blue-gray are an entire spectrum in themselves. Sometimes the clouds are on fire with sunset. Sometimes they are a wispy memory of an Impressionist painting. I have to be very careful on class days not to drive off the road admiring the atmospheric exhibition.

Jeruba I totally know what you mean! My friend is making a movie (too bad it’s not going on TV, I would totally tell everybody to watch it) and we had the most amazing clouds for the scene we were shooting on last Monday! It was 3 kids walking to school while having an argument, and the sky was kind of grey to give the mood, but the clouds were the classic nimbostratus (totally just copied off of you) cotton balls. Loved it. But now I’ll stop rambling :)

Argh, I repeated the word ‘spectacular.’

Clouds are great mood setters, @ChocolateReigns. Making a movie sounds like fun. Are you in it?

A phone call from a special person.

Thought of a couple more…
Taking the first bite of some delicious food when you’re starving.
Driving fast late at night when the roads are empty, music blaring :D

It makes me smile when my two year old son gives his customary bow to the teacher and to me as he gets on the school bus. It took him ages to pick it up, and it is terribly cute. These days it seems he learns or understands something new everyday, actually, which is just such a joy.

The first sip of tea in the morning is a real pleasure I savour; and later, pouring my first cup of coffee.

Tuesdays are “no technology” in our house, so when my husband gets home later the tv and computer will be turned off. Most likely we will listen to a podcast (which is permitted!) or play some scrabble. I always lose, but I put up a good fight.
