What Advertising Agencies have real killer websites?

Asked by ETpro (34605points) May 26th, 2010

I am looking for some really out-of-the-park ad agency Web sites because I am being asked to redesign one that frankly needs lots of help. The owner wants to go all Flash and fully understands the impact of that on SEO. After steping through her logic, I fully agree that for her business model, that decision makes perfect sense.

Not an ad agency, but the absolutely most fabulous web site I’ve ever seen. It is a demo, and I cannot believe the client never launched it, considering what their real web site looks like now.

It’s not just the elegant interface, but the photography is out of this world. The concept of selling Americana to the entire world, but not selling the product to the US is fascinating to me. The music is original… check out the entire site for three original scores. The flash interface is simply elegant and spartan. The video frames are short and to the point. It strikes at the heart of what it means to be human. And the still photography is absolutely mesmerizing. The budget for this must have been in the millions. I cannot believe they never launched it.

@RealEyesRealizeRealLies That’s a terrific site. Who did it?

Forsman & Bodenfors. Full Demo Page Here. Some agency in Germany or Sweden I think. Haven’t researched it in years, but it was the model for my agency with every project. None of my clients ever had the budget for such a number, but we could always use that site as the mark.

I’ve studied it intensely over the years. Beyond the incredible imagery, the way the logo stops after zooming in, then eases forward slightly before fading out during the zoom. Also, when viewing an image, clicking back causes the image to zoom forward slightly before zooming back into the home page. It’s just the mark of excellence.

Also check out the premier St. Louis agency… Core11. Very spartan, minimalistic. Under “work”, make sure to view the coreaudiovisual reel. One of the best I’ve seen, again of course with in house original music scoring.

@RealEyesRealizeRealLies Core11 is almost too minimalist. It took awhile before I even noticed the navigation. For a few seconds, I sat there waiting for it to do something. And I don’t get the messaging of the opening image. It flunks the ½0th of a second to drive home the message test.

Are you a creative sort for an ad agency?

I’m a freelance artist. I’m hired for a number of creative solutions.
