In Windows 7 is there a way to select by file type?

Is there a way in windows 7 to select only .exe files or .doc files for example? It would be useful for sorting out the 3 to sort folders I have.

Can you just search the folders for files ending in .exe or .doc? I think just searching for doc or exe would do it.
