What amp can give me the most flat out clean tone?

Asked by Steve_A (5125points) June 12th, 2010

But also get brittle and chunky when turned up , I’d also prefer a full tube amp, no effects. Pure tube.

Just not clean but has clarity with good note definition(even distorted or driven) and can really respond to attack of the strings?

Got any ideas?

I’m partial to the tome out of the Blues Junior. It may not be exactly what you want, but it does have a very distinct and clean tone, plus a good, gritty tube scream when it needs to.

Fender Twin.

Without peer.

If you want a flat clean amp, forget tubes. I know some people prefer the “warm” sound of tubes, but that “warmth” is distortion in the form of non-flat frequency response. A properly designed solid state amp driven (which inclused most power amps made these days) within its power range can be designed to mimic any frequency response, but the reverse is not true.

I still want a tube amp I just meant clean in the over all sense.

Not a big fan of SS amps.

I will likely end up with a fender they just seem to be the best.

Fender is your best bet. Although if you want to go economical, I recently got the Bugera V22 which is only $350 and all tube combo. I found it has an excellent clean tone for a budget amp and if you spend a little to upgrade the speaker and tubes, some have compared it to amps that cost $1000 to $2000. It has a more bass heavy clean, but when I play through it, I hear that bell-like tone.
